• Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services Receives Grants to
  • Assist Rural Domestic Violence Victims
  • June 16, 2008-Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Inc. has been awarded two grants to support its Rural Outreach Program in Green Lake County. A $500 grant from the Green Lake County/Ripon Community Foundation/Lucille M. Grams Fund and a $750 grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation will provide general program support.
  • The program addresses the needs of rural victims and their children who face unique barriers to leaving an abusive situation - barriers that include geographic isolation, limited access to transportation and lack of confidentiality. The goal of the program is to mitigate these barriers and help victims achieve safety and self -sufficiency. Services include shelter options, adult support groups, 24-Hour Helpline support, children and teen support groups, individual options counseling, safety planning, systems and legal advocacy and community education presentations and trainings.
  • "The Rural Outreach Program is critical in helping individuals and families that are struggling with domestic violence issues. They have a much more difficult time accessing resources than those victims living in an urban area, which makes the journey toward breaking the cycle of violence more challenging, said Julie Fevola, executive director of Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services. "We are grateful to the Foundation and Lucille M. Grams Fund and Alliant Energy Foundation for their support of the program," she continued.
  • Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services' mission is to prevent domestic abuse and violence and to provide intervention and safety to all individuals affected by domestic violence. In addition to emergency shelter, the agency provides comprehensive programs and services in both Winnebago and Green Lake Counties.
