Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services Receives Grant from Roundy's Foundation to Bring Critical Awareness of the Issue to Community

For Immediate Release

Menasha, WI - June 9, 2008 --- Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Inc. has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Roundy's Foundation to support its Community Education and Prevention Program, which brings critical awareness of the domestic violence issue to community members of all ages.

The program offers presentations to a variety of community groups, organizations, and businesses; it also targets students in grades K-12 within the schools addressing characteristics of abusive as well as healthy and non-violent relationships, teaching children and teens healthy ways to handle conflict and anger. By reaching out to the community, the program aims to ensure the safety of individuals and families, which in turn makes the community a safer and healthier place.

"The goal of the Community Education and Prevention Program is two-fold", said Julie Fevola, executive director of Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services. "The program increases awareness of domestic violence by educating the community on how to help victims of abuse and ensures that all victims know where to go when they need help. It also provides more proactive services in order to decrease the generational cycle of violence and reduce future incidences of domestic violence in our communities."

"We are very grateful to the Roundy's Foundation for their continued support and recognition of the importance of this program", she added.

Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services' mission is to prevent domestic abuse and violence and to provide intervention and safety to all individuals affected by domestic violence. In addition to emergency shelter, the agency provides comprehensive programs and services in Winnebago and Green Lake Counties.

Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services is a United Way agency.
