What's going on at Christine Ann?

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month and it has been an eventful month so far here at Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services. Our Take Back the Night march and rally on the 5th was a success, with hundreds of community members turning out to show their support.

We have also been battening down the hatches for the winter at the shelter. A number of community groups, including university students, faith organizations, and businesses have been finishing up some yardwork and maintenance projects in preparation for the colder weather.

Additionally, we have seen an incredible outpouring of support in response to the recent vandalism of our silhouette display at the shelter. Our community has sent a strong message that violence of any kind is unacceptable - to the tune of over $1,000. With these generous contributions, we plan to replace the display to continue to honor victims of domestic violence who lost their lives at the hands of their abusers. Any additional funds will go toward supporting current victims of domestic violence through our Help Is Here fund.

These humbling demonstrations of support have confirmed to our agency that we are not alone in our mission to end the cycle of violence. On behalf of Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services' staff and clients, as well as those victims of domestic violence who can no longer speak for themselves, thank you, thank you, thank you.
